You hear a car pull up outside your house. You grit your teeth – here it comes! You hear rushed paw-steps as your dog sprints down the hallway, straight to the front door. As the driver gets out the car, your dog barks so loudly that the whole neighbourhood can hear. The driver collects her stuff from the car and leaves to do whatever it is that she came to do. Your dog barks the entire time. Finally, once the woman is well out of sight, he calms down – his job is done. He has protected you from violent and threatening strangers once again. Sound familiar?
