All buildings must have vents

  • Master Builders agree the building code should include mandatory vents on all buildings.
  • Ventilation gets rid of the hot air in your roof space in summer helping your insulation work effectively.
  • Ventilation reduces roof-space temperature by up 12 to 15 degrees in summer.
  • Ventilation decreases heat load on ceiling ducted air conditioning.
  • Ventilation expels moist winter air in winter preventing timber rot.
  • Ventilation increases your energy cost savings.
  • A home or building that breathes is a healthier living environment.

Why ventilate?

Heat

During summer months temperatures in roof spaces can reach as high as 60°c. This heat radiates downwards causing discomfort in living areas and forcing air conditioners to work harder. Even the effectiveness of ceiling insulation can be reduced by the additional heat load.

Moisture

During the colder months, water vapour from showers and cooking is drawn into roof spaces and can condense to form up to 12 litres of moisture per day. This can render insulation ineffective, cause mildew on walls and ceilings and contribute to a damp environment.

Ventilation - How Does it Work?

Ventilation works actively to reduce temperatures by replacing trapped hot air with cooler air from outside. A wind powered ventilator, such as Edmonds SupaVent, works by the exhaust forces created by the turning turbine.

A mechanical ventilator, such as Edmonds Maestro, is electrically or solar powered and provides a predictable high flow rate at a low operating cost (less than $10 per year).

SmartBreeze Metal Roof Cooling

During hot weather the heat builds up in your roof. The roof ribs on your metal roof act as a duct and the hot air rises to the highest point. Smartbreeze is located at the ridge and extracts the hot air from between your roof sheets and foil.

SmartBreeze Tile Roof Cooling

During hot weather the heat builds up in your roof. Smartbreeze located near the ridge continually extracts the radiant heated air from the roof space and replace it with ambient air. The net effect is that the heat transfer through your living spaces is reduced thereby reducing the heat build up in your home.

SmartBreeze Metal Roof Heating

In cool weather warm solar heated air is captured in the roof ribs of your home. Smartbreeze drags this warm air from under your roof sheets and redirects it into the home. Smartbreeze uses your total roof as a collector of solar heat and uses solar power to control your room temperature.

SmartBreeze Tile Roof Heating

In cool weather warm solar heated air is captured under the roof tiles and within the ceiling space of your home. Smartbreeze collects this warm air and filters it before redirecting it into your home whenever it can be used to achieve your desired room temperature.

SmartBreeze Metal Roof Night Cooling

If your room temperature needs cooling from the cooler outside air, Smartbreeze will blow the fresh cool air into your home to achieve the room temperature set. Smartbreeze will provide cool air throughout the night to cool your home for the next day.

SmartBreeze Tile Roof Night Cooling

If your room temperature needs cooling, Smartbreeze will blow the fresh cool air into your home to achieve the room temperature set. As a tile roof has a thermal lag, to maximise cooling efficiency Smartbreeze draws the cool air directly from the outside.

Windmaster™

Edmonds Windmaster is a wind-driven turbine ventilator designed to exhaust heat and moisture from the roof space of a home.

TurboBeam™

A wind powered ventilator that has been designed to both exhaust heat and provide natural light to the roof space, improving comfort in your home.

Applications

Features and Benefits

Maestro

A slimline solution with a capacity similar to 2.5 wind powered ventilators. Driven by a highly efficient 12V motor, the Maestro is thermostatically controlled, and only runs when you need it to.

SuperWhirly

SuperWhirly is a 300mm throat spherical vane aluminium vent which has been designed to withstand extreme winds.

Applications

Features and Benefits

Ecofan

ecoFAN extracts 4,000 litres per minute of stale or damp sub-floor air. This air is replaced by clean, fresh, external air sucked through wall grilles placed opposite the ecoFAN. Even if allowed to run continuously, ecoFAN, which draws only 6.5W, will cost less than $A6 per annum in energy charges.

Features and Benefits

Vent-A-Room

The Vent-A-Room system draws air from a room within the home and exhausts it directly through a roof mounted vent. Air movement can be controlled through the adjustable ceiling register.

Cathedral Ceiling Ventilation System

The Edmonds Cathedral Ceiling Kit is the ideal solution to the problem of heat build up under raked ceilings. The system combines the benefits of an Edmonds Turbobeam vent and a ceiling grille.

Features and Benefits

Bathroom Ventilation System

By harnessing the power of the wind, the Bathroom Ventilation system changes the air in an average bathroom approximately five times per hour to remove moist air and odours.

The kit consists of a TurboVentura wind driven roof vent coupled with a controllable ceiling grille and ducting.

Whirly Mate

WhirlyMate is a closeable ceiling register which allows you to control the flow of heat from a room. During summer, the open vent allows warm air to be drawn from the room. Then, in winter, the vent can be closed to preserve precious heat.

Poly Eave Vents

Made from an ABS polymer, these under eave vents are designed to work in conjunction with roof vents, to allow cool fresh air to be drawn into the roof space.
